Hello all,

Looking at getting an aube thermostat that will control my baseboard heater in the cabin.  My thought is to be able to turn the baseboard heater on remotely using the insteon hub which are now sold at best buy and the like.  Does anyone have any insight into this, I did a search came up with nothing.  I just thought it would be nice to kick the baseboard heat on before I leave and to arrive to a warmer cabin.  Thanks for you help as always!

Not sure what the question is.

You will need full time internet at the cabin, and if they don't make a thermostat that can directly control baseboard heat you will need to add some parts...

If you don't have full time internet, but can receive text messages at the cabin, you can use a cellular interface with a arduino device to do some home automation... probably anything you would want to do like turning on the heat when you leave the house and turning on some lights when you get close

Hope that helps, or at least gives you some things to consider

thanks for your reply, my post was more for an opinion than a question.  I was wondering if anyone on here has experience with the product.  I do have full time internet there, so that is not an issue.  The thermostat that I purchased will do the baseboard heater and it will work with the insteon.  I just have no experience with it, and I was hoping that someone here did.  I hope that clears it up.  THanks again for your help

Haven't worked with insteon stuff recently but the technology has been around long enough for them to have the bugs worked out on it.

I have installed some of the HAI products for a friend recently, and it's really cool to be sitting around his pool and play with the lighting or turn on the jets for his sun deck from his phone... I had to replace a fan motor on his AC unit last weekend, and he was able to turn it on and off from where we were standing... very handy!

I say do it!
