As I read post on a daily basis I notice that many are struggling with different aspects of their projects.  This mainly occurs from the lack of help on portions that normally require more than one person.  Maybe that is the choice of the builder but most likely out of necessity.  Wouldn't it be nice to be able to call someone for some short term help in those situations.  Well I for one would like to help.  I realize that many are out of my reach as it pertains to geographical area but some may not be.  Would you be willing to lend a helping hand to someone on this building community?  Compensation would mostly just be for assistance (gas) transportation and a bowl of beans at the end of the day.  Sound nuts?  Maybe not.

The biggest challange of this would be the distances of some to travel.  But when you look there are several simultanious builds being done within a few hours drive of each other.  No I am not going to travel to Texas or Washinton State but within the Mountain State, Virginia, and even North Carolina would be within my reach.  Of course it would have to be coordinated that all materials would be on site to work with which shouldn't be a problem.

What to do you think?  Is there others out there that feel the same way.  [waiting]

Yes! What a wonderful idea. I've had plenty of problems getting help on site for some of the parts that simply cannot be done alone. Yesterday we had 4 people confirmed to come, and only one showed up  c*

If anyone needs help with something in Upstate NY (St. Lawrence, Lewis, Franklin counties?), give me some lead time so I can plan ahead and you will at least have a couple of extra hands for holding things.

I'd enjoy helping someone else, once I get mine done!

I had two guys from my church help me hang the roof trusses, and it made a big difference. I was supposed to have a helper this week on my roof sheathing, but he was a no-show.

I've learned the hard way that things go much more than twice as fast with two people. I spend much of my day simply going up and down the ladder.

I'm not poor- I'm financially underpowered.

Jay I think something like this would actually work.   But it would have to be a two way street which might the downfall.  Yes everyone is struggling to get one major aspect done.  If that extra set of hands happened at the right time someone could actually leave his project to help someone else and still be on schedule due to the assistance he received early.  The projects would have to be something that the requesting builder cannot do my himself and not just the reason of it being time consuming .  I guess we will just have to wait and see how much intrest this draws.
