Brownback just had his ass handed to him by an intelligent young woman.  Good for her, she spoke her mind using her freedom speech and did not back down to the principal or the Governor. We need more young people like her.

He finally apologised to her -- as he should have sooner. He should take corrective action with his staff letting them know there will not be anything remotely like this deplorable abuse of power in the future or they will be fired.

The governor of the state of Kansas abusing the power of his office like this is (almost) unbelievable.

The school board needs to review this principal for his bullying and profound lack of judgement. At the very least they should demand a full report of his behavior before the board. If I were her father I would demand this.  On the other hand,  never mind she can take care of herself.

Often, our ignorance is not as great as our reluctance to act on what we know.

Hmm... I thought this topic died an early death but I guess it came back to life. :)

The way I see it the governor didn't really apologize.  He never really said he was sorry to her.  He was sorry he got caught trampling on her freedom of speech and blamed it on his staff..... who would of course not do anything unless directed to or approved by him.  I think he had his fingers crossed behind his back in typical politician doublespeak style, but the effect was good enough...he loses.  :)

I still say, good Job Emma.  Keep that independent thinking going.  We can't all be followers. [ouch]
