Masonry Heaters - An affordable option?

That is another nice small(er) one. 

These really cold days gets me thinking about heating options when I finally get a chance to build.  I plan on going earth berm and I wonder if spending this kind of money (even for a cheaper one) isn't overkill.  But it is nice to have options.
