Thanks. Bears are much more agile than most people think.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Hi guys and gals.
I'm not very good at making post myself but I love reading all of yours. I my self have never come face to face with a bear but I think they are fasanating. (spell check lol) My husband and I (you guys know him as biggkidd or Larry) just bought 36 acres in Lunenburg Va and it is an area that is populated with bears so I'm sure I'll be seeing one sooner or later. I am a little worried about them(the bears) since I do have 2 small children and hope to have plenty of animals, but I'm sure we will manage. We have seen signs of bears all through out our property.

nickolekidd glad you jumped on board.  Now we don't have to take Bigkidd's word as gospel. ;D  Generally black bears of the east coast are not prone to attacking as the browns, grizzlys and polars.  Just need to give them their space.  Face it they were here long before us.  They will probably run the majority of the time.  They do get rather impatient when there is food involved so make sure it is not left out or where they can get wind of it.  There eyesight is poor but their nose is 20/20 and beyond.  Have seen several as close as 75' from the house but usually a night that close and during the day a coupel hundred yards away.  Just be careful that you do not mess with any cubs it sort of PO's the mother and makes her really aggressive. Sort of like people Huh.

Hey Nickole, we had you figured out.

If you want spell check Firefox spell checks as you type, or Tinyspell will check everything on your computer as you type in any program.  If you want it there is a link in free stuff or do a search for it.  Both are free.
