Anyone have any thoughts, resources or information on how to flash around a dormer?  Just curious as to what everyone is doing or has done?  Thanks

Not much info on this posting but good pictures and PEG recommended checking out the Grace Vycor site about the windows.

Here is a PDF on the subject.

I found this information on flashing in a park.

Very sorry about that .  When the opportunity arises, seems I can never resist. :-/

Glenn:

I don't think you use metal step flashing for that installation.

I think it may be time for the quick step ---outa there before the fuzz arrives.

Note the older gal did give him a higher rating though.

I told you the old women is blind Glenn , you really are gonna get in trouble if you keep that up .

This link has a few good detail , some not so good , Think like rain , alway lead the water out / on to the surface to daylight.

The not so good details are it shows the felt under the vally flashing on the left side of the dormer , I run a strip of 30 lds. felt right up the center of any valley and work it in nicely , don't tear it in other words/ Then run the "W" valley flashing over it .

When you paper the main roof make sure you run the felt right up the dormer wall about 12" , then do the step flashing over it .

The felt is only for back up , DO NOT COUNT ON IT AS a #1 flashing detail.  The roof should not leak even without felt paper under it.

I ddin't look at Glenn's links , I'll do that after a bit , supper and cutting the lawn and tell ya what I think of those.
When in doubt , build it stout with something you know about .

They were kind of quick searched links but I'm with you - 30 lb felt is good backup.  I did pick them out of a few worse links.

and...

They haven't caught me yet. :)

The last one even has a vidio, listen tp the guy giving the lexture , he has it right the film they took shows the roofer's NOT lapping the side wall building wrap over step flashing , I one part the roofer does the lapping right but most of the film shows them nailing thier metal flashing on top of the wrap , any water that gets passed the siding would then be lead into the structure instead of out on to the flashing and then roofing to the gutter/ daylight.

The oral part is right. He sez put it (the wrap) on top.

Glenn's links required to many hoop jumps,  so I did not review them.
