Ok, so I'm 15 and I think it would be fun to design and eventually build and live in the house. I want to know what the best way to make blue prints for the house. I want to know how I destingiush between floors and different dimensions and stuff like that. Thanks  :D

I trust you don't think me rude, but I removed the duplicate post that was under the other topic. It gets messy when we have the same post in two places.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

There is an amazing amount of information in this forum.  The people who frequent here have helped me several times as I try to plan or complete (or just make progress on) a project.

Designing and building a structure is a journey which will reward you on many levels.  My personal perspective is that you should do some research of your own before asking such an all-encompassing question, though.  There are several resources here which can steer you in that direction, and a Search function which might get you the answer you need before even asking the question.

On the main Forum page is a section called Free Stuff for Designers & Builders.  One of the stickied entries at the top of that section is Free Publications from American Wood Council.  The first document in that post contains great descriptions, pictures and terminology definitions, explaining what things are and how they are used.  http://countryplans.com/smf/index.php?topic=1433.0

When you are ready to try drawing some plans, first use pencil and paper, then try Sketchup.  Many here use it with much success.

Good Luck !

OK thanks, I'll look into some of the other posts and then look at Sketchup  [cool]
