I held off a day on uploading this.  Talking about feeding maggots to chickens didn't seem appropriate for christmas day.

Homegrown Tomatoes

very interesting set up.  I have tried composting dead critters, but the smell was pretty bad.  Now that we have a monster dog who tries to get into the compost bin every time there is something he deems remotely edible, I'm even less likely to do so.  However, I've seen the chickens go nuts on maggots.... and we have some fat and happy chickens.... maybe I should try your set up inside the chickens' pen instead of where they free range during the day.
I also like the idea of the maggots dropping out on the ground for the chickens to eat as opposed to chickens picking through decaying critters to eat them.  Thanks.

Sounds like a good idea ??? but be very carful the maggots can carry botulism and must be cleansed in bran or sawdust for three or four days or until their bodys don't show any colour inside before they are safe to feed the chickens.
