Siding - Asking the impossible

My neighbor just redid his house using SmartSide from LP

He says it won't require painting for over 30 years and is maintenance free.

Anybody have experience with that?  Not fire resistant like the cement board, but I have less to worry about fire-wise than the folks out west.

The stuff looks quite nice on his house.  Not sure how it compares prices-wise to the cement boards.

We have the LP lap siding on our suburban home. No wildfire danger there either.

So far it is fine. One section has been on for 4 years. Another 5 years.
