Preview of 2011 Solar decathlon competition in Wash DC

Every year universities from all over the states (and now foreign countries) build solar houses as part of an energy efficiency home competition in D.C.  CNN has an article and preview of some of this year's contenders; link below.

Ghent University's E-Cube has the stated goal of encouraging "people to build their own house so they get less dependent on financial institutions".  Sounds like people after our own hearts.

Tongi University used shipping containers as their material to build a house.  Within the article that talks about this entry is a link to a series of pictures of other houses made with shipping containers.  Some very interesting architecture displayed there.
