Making Watertight Connection Through a Wall

This idea somehow came to me one day a short time ago as I was contemplating how to make a weather proof hole through the cabin wall for a pipe. It could have a variety of applications.

Use a bulkhead fitting as pictured below. If this was placed when the building was just a shell it would be a relatively simple matter to drill through the sheathing and install one of these wherever needed. They can be had with either standard pipe threaded ends or slip fit ends or a combination.

Probably not a code approved method.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.
