They go to protect the country but when they return they can never own a gun again.

Washington DC must be afraid they will come for them.  Currently in the works.

But only if they are ever diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. But who's to say how many unfair judgments might be made in that direction.

Meanwhile civilians, too crazy to be accepted by the armed forces do run around with access to firearms. There may be more Seung-Hui Cho's out there. We had one here a short time ago; shot two policemen.

I'm distressed by this. I need to go shoot some targets.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

This is great. What were some of the slogans? "Be all you can be", "An army of one". Seems like now it should be 'Hey, we trained you to be a professional soldier, but you can't have guns any longer because you might be a danger to the public at large.'  Oxymoron?

Seems there are already plenty of laws to take guns from people who shouldn't have them and they should be analyzed (what you get when you spend too much time with the politicians in DC) on a case by case basis.

They will never be able to get the guns away from the actual crazies by legislation.  I should know -- I'm crazy and could build a gun in an hour from things in the scrap pile. :-/  It may not be the most accurate, but I don't think you'd want to stand in front of it. ::)
