I was reading in one of my alternative architecture books about Adamsez toilets from England.  Some models have a raised tank that is installed in the wall, and unlike most toilets the working parts are supposed to be bombproof. The one in the picture is a little fancy, but---

I really like this concept.  Is there anything similar for the U.S. market?

Caroma has a dual-flush in-the-wall toilet. Think they call it the "walvit". www.caromausa.com
I think TOTO and DRAVIT make wall mounted toilets as well. Kohler has a fancy model too.
Be prepared to spend a lot of money.

You might find a better deal with a commercial style wall mounted unit. American Standard make some inexpensive models. Not as classy looking though. Make sure it passes the "wife" test.

Thanks.  Of course, I like the expensive ones better.

the Adamsez are cute.  Wait long enough and one--or the pair--will turn up on eBay.

The SeaLand are

a) very low flush--usable with under-the-house composting toilets  like this expensive system

or standard sewage system.  I have friends who use something similar in plastic in their house, have for 25 years now.  Gravity discharge may mean it will flush best into the septic tank right under your bathroom, that's how my friends sited theirs.  I don't think they're all gravity discharge.

b) no tank at all, But most still require only water flow, not necessarily pressure--they're used on yachts and RV's--

c) very compact, not terribly expensive, considering, readily available, etc.

(apparently dometic owns/is selling them now--here's the company site with all the models including a matching bidet for the 3600 series
