Often, our ignorance is not as great as our reluctance to act on what we know.

I think it is a shining example that firearms ownership does not equal crime, but I disagree that there is a causation effect.  The U.S. has more than double the number of firearms ownership per person and less strict gun laws and we have massive more crime.  Gun ownership does not equal lower crime.

I pay a little attention to Switzerland and Liechtenstein for work.
Switzerland is also one of the richest per capita nations in Europe.  It also has the highest minimum wage.
It is heavily socialist.
It is ethnically homogenous.
It spends the lowest on its military and is least involved in international disputes than the rest of its European neighbors.

It goes with the idea that guns don't kill people, people kill people. Economics and culture have more to do with violence in a society than whether they have guns or not.

I agree with the major differences in their society

but unstated is the fact that everyone knows the virtually every household has firearms

an armed society is a polite society

His reason at the end about keeping governments in check and not being hauled off to the concentration camps was precient.

We feel we have massive amounts of gun violance becasue of the liberal media's constant bias in reporting.  Bet most Americans didn't hear that Homicide dropped off the top 15 causes of death.  As gun ownership goes up, homicide goes down.

Imagine if the News networks reported on the 15 top reasons for death with the same vigor they report on the number 16 position, homicide. Perhaps the news is slanted??? Homicide rates continue to decline despite a poor economy and have dropped off the top 15 reasons for death from the CDC:
1 Diseases of heart
2 Malignant neoplasms
3 Chronic lower respiratory diseases
4 Cerebrovascular disease...s
5 Accident
6 Alzheimer's
7 Diabetes
8 Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome and nephrosis
9 Influenza and pneumonia
10 Suicide
11 Septicemia
12 Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis
13 Essential hypertension and hypertensive renal disease
14 Parkinson's disease
15 Pneumonitis
