Hi folks -

I'm planning to start cross bracing my foundation (post/pier) this weekend. Looking for a couple recommendations on what's best. As you see in the photos, my posts are very short. Most are between 18 and 24 inches in height. I have a doubled-up 2x12 girder notched into them, running the length of the cabin (32'). Same system along the deck and bumpout piers. For the main portion of the cabin, there are 5 piers along the length, and three on each end. I have a decent stock of leftover 2x8's that I could use for the bracing.

Should I run one brace between each pier, switching the angle as I go? Or, is an X between each pier the better choice? It will be a pretty shallow X if I go that route. Also an X-related question, is there any problem bringing a brace up in front of the girder where it notches and lagging into that?

Thanks in advance.
