John,

In your VC plans, what did you plan as the envisioned wall height in the great room?  And in the bedroom addition?  I want to make sure my reading, measuring, and figuring is correct.

Am I correct that I would take that wall height for each room and then subtract 4 1/2 inches for the single bottom and double top plates to get my stud length?

Thanks,
Mike

The main wall of the Great Room is framed with 12' studs giving the top plate a height of 12'- 4 1/2" so your calculation is right.

The bedroom addition wall height is shown on the front elevation at 10'- 4 1/2" so frame that room with 10' studs.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for making it nice and simple.  Now the only thing to watch for is that the actual boards are those lengths--it seems they are all a bit longer than advertised....

Yes, you may need to gang trim them to be the same length.
