interior walls?

Hello,

What do y'all consider to be the most inexpensive and easiest wall finish?  What are the trade-offs?

Wallboard?  Paneling?  

It seems to me that the easiest would be paneling, but then this might  be somewhat energy inefficient.

I think for most projects, buying materials new, you would find drywall the least expensive. Also, when properly installed it can be a very effective air barrier and thus is energy efficient. Search for "airtight drywall".

Drywall also has advantages in stopping many fires (and slowing those that are already going).
