Veterans Day

Veterans Day, known as Remembrance Day in Canada, Australia and the UK, also known as Armistice Day in France and New Zealand and as Poppy Day in some other parts of the world, will be here Sunday. I wish to take a moment to remind us all to observe and give thanks to all past and present members of our armed forces, irregardless of our politics. We honor all who served in our armed forces in any capacity, whether or not they fell on the battle field.

Why November 11? In case anyone was asleep that day at school, major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.

A note: Even though the day is commonly printed as Veteran's Day or Veterans' Day in calendars and advertisements, that is incorrect There is no apostrophe in the name Veterans Day.

Bush finally goes to visit the maimed.

These guys offered everything and many gave most of it for a war based on lies -- and yet they tolerate him.
