USO= United Services Organization.

So who didn't know what USA was before clicking the link. Who still doesn't have a clue?

[The USO has been in the business of supporting troops and their families since Congress chartered it in 1941. Bob Hope and a myriad of stars of the 1940s visited combat theaters throughout the world during World War II. Hope continued the tradition in Korea and Vietnam]

One day recently, for some reason totally out of the blue, it hit me that I hadn't heard anything in the news about the USO. Hmmm. Were they still around, I wondered. Well a quick Google found that they were. This very Christmas season Robin Williams, Kid Rock, and other celebrities made one of 52 USO tours putting on more than 300 shows for our men and women in Afghanistan, Iraq and other foreign bases. I wonder why we virtually never hear about these few celebrities doing these good works for our troops.  ??? Back in the days of Vietnam, another unpopular war at home, I seem to recall seeing mentions of USO tours over there. Especially Christmas shows. What's happened? Are the media so biased against Bush they can't see the need to bring some sunshine to those in uniform and serving in danger far away from home?

Being against Bush and the war does not mean we should forget those armed forces members who have been shipped overseas. I'm proud to see that Robin Williams, an outspoken Bush critic, recognizes the difference. He has made 4 tours to Iraq/Afghanistan in recent years.

I'm just feeling melancholy and disgusted today.  :(
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.
