Vapor Barriers: 4mm Poly vs. VB Paint (ie: Primer)

Did some searching, but found little concerning the pro's & con's of various interior vapor barriers (plastic sheeting vs. primer paint).  Any concerns/ideas as to what is the best option for those of us here in the Pacific Northwet?
