I know about wood working and building houses but this is over my head so i though i would get the the big BRAINS of CountryPlans to take a look.

I found this for a link on coyotecottage.com web site its on  homemade BIO DIESEL they use oil-rock salt and Acusorb beads that they sale for $300.00 for 30lb.

I have never heard of using salt in bio diesel can this be done or is it a rip off?

Robert,

The salt is the catalyst used in making bio diesel , you use either sodium hydroxide(lye or caustic soda..as in drain-o) or potassium hydroxide.

One book I know of is  " From the Fryer to the Fuel Tank: The Complete Guide to Using Vegetable Oil as an Alternative Fuel", by Joshua Tickell. I'm sure there are many out there, might want to check Amazon.

Mother Earth News has dozens of articles on making and using bio diesel.

This one will explain the method:

A search on the home page there(Mother Earth News) netted more than 10 pages listing related articles.

Knowing how to find information is important.

(Keeping Google on my tool bar is one of the reasons I have an occasionally really undeserved reputation as a researcher--like the time I found a question in one topic, and the answer in the one above it  ;) But sometimes I'm good)

I haven't done anything with bio-diesel - still not enough time to finish the old projects, and I still start new ones. :-/
