Gable walls and rough openings

Hi everybody got a question I know I can get answered here.  

This is regathering my cabin which is the typical style on this forum its supported by two side walls with ridge board rafters, color ties and two gable walls inbeetween.  

I bought some new windows but have already framed up my roof Can I take studs out of my gable wall and the wall below my gable to make room for rough openings without framing up a pony wall.  Do these walls need to have headers or can I squish windows in my gable wall right up close to my rafters.

The end walls in a typical gable roofed structure, with rafters and a ridge board do not carry any loads other than their own weight. Therefore windows and doors in an end wall can use a simple 2x4 or 2x6 placed flat as the header.

If there's not a ridge board but a structural beam, things get more complicated.  I have a 6x12 glulam header spec'd for my 3ft wide center window as the end of the beam is above it and it's carrying something like 10,000lb!
