The Dickinson solid fuel heater is pretty cool, I know it's being used in the Tiny Houses.  As for an outhouse - sure, if you can get someone to go out and first crank it up for you.

  That's my job!  Actually, I am one of those willing to work to keep my wife warm -- even if it means getting up every two hours to stoke the fire.  And if firing up a small wood stove will warm the loo up for us all then I'm for it!  After all, no one wants to sit on the pot when it's -10f out and it aint heated!
