Anyone here eat it? How often?

I'm not real big on it, but I do go to McD's every so often (daily) to get an Iced Coffee because they have me hooked.

Don't really eat their food though, every once in a strange while i'll have a craving for something chicken related on their menu, but I think their burgers taste like garbage (compared to what I can cook up at home).

But, there is one fast food place that I can never say no to...

In-N-Out Burger. I have to pick up / take my boss back to the airport every other weekend so I am sure to hit it up before I pick him up and after I drop him off, its just too good to pass up! Double Double, Animal Fries and a Soda please :D I have to take him back to the airport in a few hours so all I am thinking about is making sure I don't miss exit 7 to get some fantastic greasy cheeseburger to make me feel like your typical American, haha.

c* I will sometimes stop for coffee at McD's or Carls Jr when driving to or from the cabin. I will usually get a burger too----definitely prefer Carls Jr (like their jalapeno burgers). Other then that, I pretty much avoid fast food joints.

I'm hard pressed to recall the last time I was in a fast food joint. ???  Been a long long time.

I've been on a health kick for a while (Oh wait- I've 'changed my eating habits') so I avoid fast food most of the time. I do like a sausage mcmuffin with egg once in a while, though. The rest of it is pretty easy to stay away from.

Ooops. I just remembered we were both in the Subway on the road up tp the mountains this summer. I had a 6" Veggie Delite.

I guess Subway is technically fast food, but I sort of view it as essentially the same as making a sandwich at home-----I like the Veggie Delights too. It would be nice if they used some REAL east coast quality deli meats & cheeses though.

Ditto on the real deli meats and cheeses. I usually do the Veggie and fill 'er right up!

One of the big differences is that there are no sandwiches sitting there under the heat lamp or in the cooler ready-to-go. But they are faster than say, my favorite locally owned, sit down, table waited, restaurants/pub. Great Calzones and Pizza and superb brew. My only complaint is they don't make enough lagers, they tend to brew more ales. Currently their Keller Bier is my favorite. Their burgers are quite good too. They are usually fast/slow enough so you can enjoy a pint and still have some with the food. When we're out I'm a one drink person.

If you want something like Subway, but BETTER... then you must check out Jimmy John's... (if you have one in your neck of the woods)

It was this small (I guess?) chain sub place that I used to eat at ALOT when I lived in this college town... amazing cold sandwiches, with good meat and cheese. Plus, you could buy their day old bread for like 35 cents for a foot long and go home and make your own ;)

I had In-N-Out burger earlier, seriously the best burger place ever. I don't know if its "fast food", technically.. I mean, I did wait for like 10 minutes to get my burger and its all fresh meat, fresh buns and they make their own fries out of their potatoes in house daily.

No JJ's near here.  But you reminded me of Jason's deli; also a chain, but very good food. I'd not exactly call them fast food either, but they are not a real sit down and get waited on restaurant.

I did a Google on "define fast food. Some results defined fast food as...

... designed for ready availability, use, or consumption and with little consideration given to quality or significance

... Any restaurant that deliver a customer over 1200 calories with two items from a menu board, and is designed to have these products in the customer's hands in less than three minutes is a fast food restaurant.

... A type of meal that is often pre-prepared and served quickly.

...A type of food that is quickly made, but of low nutritional value.

I guess in my mind I perceive fast food to be food ordered at a counter and it is made available either immediately from the heat racks or arrives within a few minutes. I exempt buffets from fast food as I get to view and select the food. Any place that has wait staff is also exempt from fast food in my book.  walking up to a counter and ordering my food as fast food.  If someone takes my order while I'm seated then it's definitely not fast food, no matter how quick they might be. Pei Wei has me order at a counter, but wait staff brings it to the table, so it's not fast food; cooked on order as well.

Mmmm...  I'm hungry and I just ate!

I was surprised to see McDonalds on that list, but it made some good points about it working to overhaul it's menu to be more healthy. And when it talked about the fries, I thought that they were more in calories than just 230 for a small. Same with the Egg McMuffin. I LOVE those things so now I won't feel so guilty for having on for breakfast.
