I'm beat !!!!!!!

I spent the weekend getting the tractor back to the burbs. It stormed hard at the farm last night and I had to unload the tractor and drive it to the gravel road because of the mud, then reload it on my trailer which I've decided is too small.

Then I realized pretty quickly that I had the weight distributed wrong and the brakes weren't adjusted correctly. If I hit the brakes the trailer would swerve to the right...hard and the trailer would rock like a rocking horse making the trailer and truck fishtail. I had the bed of the truck loaded with implements, I guess 900 pounds or so. then the 5000 pound tractor on the trailer with no tongue weight but I think when it rocked, I;d lose traction on the
front wheels.

I reduced the braking power to 25. which helped with the fishtailing, but made it bang the hitch hard when slowing. Then drove 100 miles at 30 MPH.

Long day

These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here!

Be careful with those trailers. They're real handy things but will kill you if not loaded properly.

On the bright side, at least when you were mired in the mud up at the farm you could drive the load off. You'd still be there if you had to shovel the load off.   ;D ;D
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.
