Had some fun today.  Before Christmas I asked my oldest daughter (16) what she wanted Santa to bring.  She said she wanted a few days to think about it.  She came back and said she wanted a compound bow  ;D  We had an archery party for our youngest daughter (trying to find something new) and Melissa remembered that she thought it was a hoot.  Shopped around and found a good deal on a Mission Menace bow:  http://missionarchery.com/menace-bow.asp

Went back to the shop today to set up her bow and do a preliminary tune on it, and it looks like this bow will work well for her.  She's been practicing drawing to strengthen her back muscles, and I have been putting weight on the bow for a couple of weeks.  It's set at 37 lb for her draw.  I think it is a little heavy for her... she draws it okay, but gets tired after 20 shots or so and starts to get wobbly.  It was fun to see her start to build some skills at the range.

She and I shoot sporting clays once in awhile, but that is getting a bit too expensive due to ammo.  I'm hoping that we can start doing 3-D shoots this summer.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.
