So I am sitting 2 miles from a BassPro tonight and stopped by to pick up a catalog.  They have several game cameras on sale.  Are any of these a bargain at these prices?  :

Moultrie Game Spy D-40  $69.88
Stealth Cam 2.0  STC-WD2IR  $99.88
Sniper V650MTR  $179.88
Moultrie Game Spy M-60  $149.88

If any of these are a steal, let me know please.

I'd love to have one that takes a picture every day at a pre-programmed time too.  In the winter i'd like to set it up to take pictures of my cabin location so I could get an idea how much snow falls on that site.

Thanks and regards,

Frank

Lots of info and chat about game cameras there. I haven't looked for a month or three but last time I was there the up and coming hot item was the Scoutguard 550. http://scoutguard550.com/   $200

Peter Nap has a couple IIRC.

I haven't yet taken the plunge but if I think about it too much the temptation is very high.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

I've got to admit that the Scoutguard 550 is my pick of the year. They are a new company but they are VERY CUSTOMER FRIENDLY and concerned about the quality of the cameras.

That said, there have been some software issues. All cameras have some issues and the company's say "were working on it". They either do nothing or fix it for next years models.

SG fixed the issues and gave the software patch to all existing customers....great people.

This is one of my favorite sites and they have done extensive testing on all cameras but the SG's were a special project. It's like this site, everyone gets along (at least there, here it's everyone but one)

Here are a couple of last weeks photo's from the SG 550:

Good trigger time.
Fair IR Illumination.

The best video I've ever seen on a Game camera

I'll never own another Moultrie so I won't talk about them and I don't know much about the Sniper.

Stealth makes a good cam but again with issues and the Customer service tries, but needs some improvement. A big issue with the Stealth is longevity. Picture quality goes down after a year and they are prone to problems like the flash and trigger time, after a year. Battery life is a major problem with them. I hook mine to marine deep cycle battery's to get any field time at all.

All that said, I own over 20 of them, mostly the I450's.

Here is one of last weeks Stealth pictures: I don't always set the dates d*
