I would encourage any and all to read this book by Naomi Klein.

Un-flipping-believable!!

This is what is behind the Iraq war.  It was all about wr'secking the Iraq economy, as well as Argentina's, Chile's, Bolivia's, Russia's.

It relies on natural disasters, or if there isn't a natural disaster, the US government creates one, then takes over and turns the place into a haven for venture capitalists to make millions.

I am embarrassed to be an American anymore.  Anybody know of any easy way to move to Canada?  Or Scandanavia?

Haven't read the book but seems to agree with what is going on.

Look at Katrina- disaster arrived a day after the storm - residents tell of bombs -- shootout between the feds and NOLA PD - story changed 3 times - residents were dispersed so far they will never get back -- Quayle and Co. sold 2 billion dollars worth of unneeded ice- venture capitolists picking up the foreclosed properties - assistance never made it there or was mostly not allowed to be accepted.  Yes -- likely assisted by gov.

There is still a missing nuke stolen from SD with 'White House assistance possibly coming to a city near you courtesy of Chertoff's gut feeling and Congolisa's agreement and furtherance of the fear mongering.  All upper echelon were in agreement on that -- when they start parroting each other look for them to try to pull off another one similar to the WTC-- which they at least assisted.

Canada is very close on the heels of the US - a partner.  Try farther, but where is far enough.  I haven't quite figured that one out yet.

It is very much an awesome book.  It also explains why much of the world hates us, and (after the fact of 9/11) why fundamentalist Islam hates us and did what they did (and presumably still trying).  My own country pisses me off.  It's not hard to imagine how much more pissed off other countries are.

If you get a chance, the book is quite the eye-opener (that is, if one wants to have their eyes opened that far.)

Best,

Hal

Here is the Amazon link and a few minute video of the topic that outlines the authors point of view.

I'm going to reserve comment as I haven't read it, but the author appears to be able to use shock treatment herself to make her emotional points.

Oh well, "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you."  :-\

If she is trying to say that the hijackers were of Islamic faith then I think she may have missed part of it.  The 9/11 false flag operation was blamed on the Islamics but was likely orchestrated or at least assisted by our government possibly with help of the Mossad.  There are too many quacking ducks for it not to be one.

I viewed the video and read what was available online -- a small portion, but it looks like her eyes are pretty well open.

The individual is handicapped by coming face to face with a Conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists. The American mind simply has not come to a realization of the evil which has been introduced into our midst.

Re: the Hoover Quotation. That is an accurate quotation of Hoovers. That's from one of his 1956 speeches on one of his favorite obsessions. That would be Communism, not the US Government itself, but the infiltration of Communist Party members within the US Government. So I don't think he was meaning what are are meaning.

I'll have to put Klein's book on my list of books to read before passing much of an opinion. From what I've read she's highly critical of Milton Friedman and very pro socialism.

I have read Friedman's Capitalism and Freedom. Friedman is a strong believer in the free market, and so am I. He believes there is a connection between economic liberty and personal liberty, and so do I. There are problems in capitalism. These problems are not the result of free trade--they are the result of some corruption, and in many cases, government interference in the private sector. I get the feeling that Klein wants socialism and government guarantees, and that's hardly free market.

But then I haven't read her book yet, so I should shut up for the time being. And I will.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

It will be interesting to hear more of what she has to say.

Whether communism  in the past or todays fascism, corporate or personal fortune and empire building, I think the quote is still accurate.  Most people just don't want to see or even look.

Not about the book but same subject I think -- more about the fall as viewed from the other side of the world --

Agrees a lot with what I see happening.

Jonesy sent me some links from Australia.  This one is an excellent view of the current economic problems here.
