How tall can stick-frame buildings realistically go?

Hello,

I've noticed quite a few projects with a concrete podium and about 5 wood-frame floors above it, usually around 6–7 stories total.

Has anyone seen stick-frame (Type V) buildings that are taller than this? Are there examples of 8+ stories, or do building codes and engineering limits usually prevent that?

I'd be interested to hear about any real-world projects or experiences.
