pellet stove hearth

Yesterday, I bought a Harmon Accentra pellet stove, and I want to build a hearth pad for it.
the manufacturer suggested pad would have cement board, thin set, and a grouted tile.
What I was thinking was a 2x4 framed floor covered with cement board, and skinned with the local sandstone from my yard grouted.
the area where the stove will be is currently finished with 3/4 acacia hardwood flooring, that I would like to leave down incase I move the stove in the future..

any ideas, pictures comments are appreciated.
