I had a right hand that looked like that once.  Rods sticking out all over the place.  Keeping it from bumping and snagging on things was, well, a pain.  ::)  Hope this all heals up properly, and soon.

I found out today my ear muffs won't fit the right ear now. Can't find my ear canal types so I need to get some new ones tomorrow.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

I've put in a good word with the chief surgeon, good luck Don, you'll be in our thoughts tomorrow.

MountainDon

Thanks. Yep, tomorrow the pins and rods come out. The bone plate gets screwed back into place. A piece of hip gets cut out and is used to fill the vacant space. Sew it up again and I go home. Nothing to it!   ;D

Best wishes on what we hope is the last round of this.

Be careful with the jPhone comments.  Steve Jobs probably has it trademarked and you'll get a nasty letter from his legal team.   ;D ;D  Hope all goes well and you are as good as new in short order.

Hope all goes well this time, Don.

Glad you posted Don. I was wondering yesterday how you were doing.
Prayers sent and I'll be waiting to hear from you about your progress.

Thanks to all for their best wishes.

Today it just hurts a bit. The hip donor bone spot is worse than the mandible. I've got a small drug filled globe attached to me. It feeds a pain killer. Plus I have other pills.

There is good news though!  I have been growing bone on my own. I grew a "finger" of bone from the main piece of mandible, across the empty space. It has not quite reached the rearmost part, the ramus. Dr. Mitchell could use a smaller piece on donor bone. Plus he used a shorter titanium plate. So now I have a good assortment of used parts.  I think I'll have to mount them on a wood plaque.

It's ALIVE!!!

Sounds very good Don. Great to have you back so soon. Hope you get up to the cabin this weekend.

Good work on growing your internal bone garden.

Here's to a full and quick recovery.  :D :D :D

I can see the Craigslist ad now...
