I Got Some New Parts Today

I had a right hand that looked like that once.  Rods sticking out all over the place.  Keeping it from bumping and snagging on things was, well, a pain.    Hope this all heals up properly, and soon.

I found out today my ear muffs won't fit the right ear now. Can't find my ear canal types so I need to get some new ones tomorrow.

Thanks. Yep, tomorrow the pins and rods come out. The bone plate gets screwed back into place. A piece of hip gets cut out and is used to fill the vacant space. Sew it up again and I go home. Nothing to it!

Today it just hurts a bit. The hip donor bone spot is worse than the mandible. I've got a small drug filled globe attached to me. It feeds a pain killer. Plus I have other pills.

There is good news though!  I have been growing bone on my own. I grew a "finger" of bone from the main piece of mandible, across the empty space. It has not quite reached the rearmost part, the ramus. Dr. Mitchell could use a smaller piece on donor bone. Plus he used a shorter titanium plate. So now I have a good assortment of used parts.  I think I'll have to mount them on a wood plaque.
