Washing a 4" PVC Well...

I was just wondering if anyone has ever used water pressure to "wash" down a well?  I am looking at doing this up at my cabin.  The neighbor has done a couple and hit good water at 25ft.   It is sandy where we are at, so I am wondering if this is worth giving a try.

It might be worth investigating a driven point well.  Twenty-five feet through sand is just right for that technique.  Careful about your water volume requirements, though.... you probably couldn't run the dishwasher, clotheswasher, and flush all at the same time unless you use a storage system like Glenn's.
I have installed a couple for light irrigation in cases where the household supply was a dug well that was likely to go dry in the summer.

You could telescope casings a bit too to make it easier -- start with a bigger size or two -go as far as possible with it - then to a smller one then a smaller one etc. as you get deeper.  Check out percussion drilling - a bailer on a stick and pivot- invented by the Chinese 2 or 3000 years ago.  Pick it up and drop it as the casing goes in the hole- you dig the center out and add a little water as you go to make the cuttings go into the bailer.
