Title: Security Issues
Post by: bayview on December 20, 2010, 08:57:28 AM

We have had some security issues at our unoccupied cabin and garage . . .    I decided  a couple of weeks ago to add motion sensors with floodlights.

Friday evening we got a call from one of our neighbors . . .     He wanted to let us know that our property had lit up like a searchlight.    (Great to have good neighbors)   He then had shown his flashlight unto our property but didn't see anything.   Seems, the bright lights had scared off the perpetrator.

Well, we were going to the property on Saturday any way. . .    Sure enough, footprints by the garages backdoor.

I have made a decision that we need more than just lights.   My neighbor works during the day and I can't expect him to keep an eye on our place 24 hours a day.

We thought of some game cameras.   But decided that they would be to easily located.   So we found and ordered a couple of security lights with motion detectors and a built-in camera.   The beauty of these things is that they don't look like a camera.

With shipping they are about $100.00 ea.    Here is the link.

I've had the same problem Bayview but we don't have any neighbors.

I bought Game Cams and put them all over the place (16 working cams total) I move them and keep them well hidden.

I also have about 30 non working cameras both junker closed circuit and game cameras scattered around. I call them Judas cameras because they are the ones you see.

I used to catch a lot of people. I had a few locked up,published pictures and licens numbers of others, set boards with nails in tracks of vehicles and had a few private talks with people.

I get very few on the cameras now. This year, I got there as a dog hunter was releasing his dogs. I got out with the 1911 and told him he had 30 seconds to get them before I shot them. Darned if he didn't do it with a few seconds to spare.

I look forward to a very quiet year. ;D

Here is a really neat idea that doesn't cost a lot of money.   ;)

Until someone trips, cracks their head open, and someone goes to jail for manslaughter.  Check the case law on this.  I don't want to come off harsh, but deliberate hazards can be viewed as a reckless indifference to human life.  I have read and seen many people go to jail for this.  Especially for property not occupied.

Sometimes that's all that works!
