I just got a Martin LX1 and brought it home. It's a 3/4 sized acoustic, with a sitka spruce top, rosewood neck and saddle, nickle tuners, and an awesome tone. surprisingly warm and loud for a small instrument. It's an xmas present for my daughter so I have to keep it hidden. I keep sneaking out to the garage to play it tho.
She's 9, and has been in violin for a few years. She wants to switch to guitar and play the songs she likes on the radio. I'm all for it. I wish my first guitar was this nice d*
psst - dont tell her
I have a 1975 Martin D35. It sounds better every year. Glad to see young people interested in music. It will be her friend for many years to come.
Interesting Muldoon,
A violin player here, from the band Iron Butterfly, that took up the guitar....

You might remember the group.
My favorite axe is a 414 Taylor.

Muldoon I cringe when they start talking of switching instruments but figure it is a small price to pay for carring on an age old tradition. Now if you can just get her some fiddle music. ;)

Iron Butterfly, I have innagodda davida on vinyl, listen to it every now and then. Once apon a time I listened to it alot. (It's in the garden of eden... with some help from chemical substances to distort the words). My favorite ax is a rather old sigma acoustic my grandmother got me when I was a teenager. sentimental I guess, been through a bunch with that guitar. Like Chuck said about his, it sounds better every year. Mine was made in 79 or so.
Got your PM Muldoon,
No, I'm not a former member of Iron Butterfly.....
Poor word and language syntax on my part.. d*

I went to an Iron Butterfly concert in Fresno years ago :) Quite impressive when the music started for Inagodadavida (sp?) & the light show :)
Love to listen to violin, fiddle & guitar! One of Glenn's grandson's has just started violin lessons. I have a friend who's son started playing violin when he was 4 y/o, he now plays fiddle w/a band & they've played in Nashville & Branson. He's really good.
We went to a local music teachers recital - fun to watch the kids learning to play and doing well.
A life-long trumpet player, I used to mess around with guitar and stand-up bass back in the day. I recently picked up an old 5 string banjo. Need to learn it before I move out to the sticks. Maybe I'll start working at it when I start building the house- give me something better to do at night rather than watch the idiot box.
I think music is one of the best things you can do for a kid. Our son played in band all through school. Hopefully, he'll get back to it some day.
