Title: Universal 20' wide 2-story Cottage
Post by: rdzone on December 16, 2005, 06:39:44 PM
I have a copy of the Universal 20' wide 2-story Cottage plans and the victorias cottage plan.  I really like the victoria plans, but I have been looking at the 2 story plans more lately because of the added space. Looking at recent posts on the 1 1/2 story I noticed in the pictures the second floor deck is tongue and grove decking with df timbers very similar to the victorias plan.  Is it possible to do the same flooring system in the Universal 20' wide 2-story Cottage?

Yes, the 20' wide 1.5 story has a double 2x12 beam that sits on the ledger and is spiked into the studwall at 48" o/c. On top of this is 2x6 T&G decking. This could be done in the 2 story Universal plan as well. It gives much the same exposed beam and deck ceiling as Victorias (and has the same issues about hiding plumbing).
