I bought two used framing guns at a flea market a couple of weeks ago. Both worked for a few shots when I tested them there.
I took them out and the Bostitch got into trouble the first clip. The air just goes through like the trigger is stuck open.
I figured I'd work on it later (Later hasn't come BTW) so I used the Paslode yesterday. It worked for two clips then it was like the safety wouldn't press in far enough to let it shoot another nail. >:(
Anyone have any idea what's wrong with either or both...and how to pull them apart?
Peter the first thing I would do is spray a little lubricant in the air inlet and then pressurize and work the triggers. If something is stuck either in the open/closed position this might help to free it. I have the name and # of a guy in Waynesboro who works on air tools. But you probably have a good selection closer to home.
But if you want to be brave here is Bostich site for parts and diagram of components.

Thanks John. I tried the lube and pressure and it didn't change anything. These were both given a shot of air tool oil before I started working.
Doing a little research, the Bostitch is probably an O ring. It seems to be a common problem.
I have no idea how to pull the piston out but I'll look at the site you linked and maybe I can figure it out.
I haven't a clue about the the other one yet. :-\
I'd guess an O-ring kit might fix the Bostitch. I had that happen a few years back to my N80. It was only about 15+ years old. ;)
Peter there are plenty of forums at this site for all brands. My guess is that they can diagnose the problem and provide a solution.

Well...another educational day. The Bostitch is fixed. The trigger assembly was bad. When I got a new one the fellow said I had the green assembly and they caused a lot of trouble. He had an upgrade for $25.00 so I got it. Took three minutes to fix.
Tomorrow I tackle the other one that the parts fellow said was most likely just an adjustment out of wack.
