I need an o-ring lubricant for use on a vehicle. I've been trying to find a non-adhesive silicone lubricant for o-rings and have struck out. What can I use, and where can I find it?
Can I use a dielectric grease similar to the stuff that is used on spark plug boots?
I use power punch or motor oil for o rings. What is it for?
Shooter,
When I used to work on BIG hydraulic presses we used:
1. Parker O-Ring Lube
2. regular old plain petroleum jelly
I use plain auto or hydraulic oil. There is a silicone spray available at automotive places if you want a silicone product.
They are made to handle oils in most cases.
Matts Pools (and others I suppose)
I have bought a silicone based, non hardening, lube from them in the past.

+1 on Petroleum Jelly.
This is for on intake plenum for the air filter on a Polaris RZR.
I'm spooked about using petroleum jelly, as if the gasket / o-ring is petroleum based (many are) it will degrade the fit over time.
I use food grade silicone for o-rings on kegs. Works well, I got the can I use at a brew store, but I imagine you can look around and get them other places.
