Title: Boys and their toys
Post by: Redoverfarm on November 06, 2010, 12:15:29 PM
Here is a recent purchase that I made.  Yeah I needed it like I needed another hole in my head.  But you might consider it a keepsake.  The department that I worked for recently upgraded it's members with something better than the 870. So they offered active and retired members the oppurtunity to buy the weapon.  It is the Smith & Wesson MP 15 which is basicly the AR 15 design.  The rifle has an overall length of 32 &1/2" with an expandable stock to give a total of 36&1/2".  With the active members and retired their was only approximately 1,100 made with the destinctive seal engraved. It was sold with 3-30 round clips, cleaning kit and hardcase.  Yes I probably payed too much in comparison to the contracted price that was paid to it's members but sometimes money is not really the object of your possessions.

So what possessed me.  Well I was looking down the road for my son.  The way the goverment has been going on gun laws and restrictions I figured that when he was able to afford a Semi-auto assault weapon that he wouldn't be able to own one.

I decided a long time ago that the AR-15 and/or the M4A1 were the coolest looking weapons ever...

I was looking at the specs and was surprised that it only weighs 7.1 lbs.
