Made out of brass. Not sure why?

My Dad had it "forever" Unfortunately I don't recall the story behind it. I've been cleaning the workshop and rediscovered it this evening.
More that likely it's a jewelers, clock makers, watch makers or any other profession that would need a soft anvil or a anvil that wouldn't make sparks or rust.
I once saw a brass anvil that came off of a ship(no rust) it was about 800 pounds.
It was at a auction but I got out bid on that one too.
I think it is a clock makers anvil. I believe the name Lebelt is German. Don that is a nice collectible.
It'll be 100 in about a month!
Reason for a celebration!
I'll have to get some good German beer.
I think Whitlock is correct. I used to see them all the time in the jewelry repair shops, and watchmakers. Strange I thought Rio Grande Jewelers still had them in the catalog. They all seem to be polished steel now. The only brass one I can find now they carry is used to hammer rings together. Not the same at all but still classed as a anvil.
Somewhere, there is a tiny, little coyote waiting for it to land on his head.
