Title: BLOK Ranch game cameras...
Post by: NM_Shooter on September 13, 2010, 09:29:52 AM
I went and pulled the memory cards from my two cameras this past weekend.  I got some pretty interesting pictures.

This first one is the camera that watches the road to the fishing pond, to capture license plate numbers of those driving around on the ranch.  It is about 100 yards below my cabin.  I call this picture "Road Rage"   ;D

This is on the game trail that I am putting a blind on this year.  I only have two days to hunt, and I will be on this trail for the first and last 4 hours of daylight each day.  The rut appears to be late this year; I may go stalk if I hear bugling.

This one.  I want this one :

The high point of my trip this past weekend was a close encounter with a cow elk.  I was practicing bugling and stalking, and had just gotten within 50 yards of a bull.  I spooked him, and I decided to hike back to my truck.  As I was walking down a trail, I entered into a little meadow, and I saw a flash of an elk disappear on the other side of the meadow.  I bugled, and I heard her stop, then start to come back up the trail towards me.  I was in camo, hunting grouse, and I crouched down and "hid" behind my shotgun.  She came trotting around a bush, and the look on her face was priceless.  We were only 30 or 40 feet apart, I was frozen, and she was staring at me wondering "WTH?".  After 30 seconds or so she bolted.  It was a hoot.

I did bring home a brace of grouse.... had them for dinner last night.  My attempt at an artsy game picture....

Looks like you have the spot. We won't have much going on until 10/2. Bow season starts then.

Love the Grouse picture....and the shotgun! [cool]
