Title: Pre-poured concrete piers
Post by: mpls_ham on July 20, 2010, 04:37:21 PM
Has anyone out there hauled their concrete piers to the site and placed them.  I'm trying to avoid delivery costs of wet concrete and I have the equipment to haul and place them.  I'm thinking of having a total of eight 3' high sonotubes with 20" diameter poured at the local redi-mix plant. I'll have rebar loops placed in the top so they can be moved easier.  Any thoughts or opinions?

they do make pre-cast sectional foundations for mobile homes.. which could be used for other structures... so why not do it with piers?  heck of an idea unless there is something other than the footings to consider.

These piers will wiegh over 1000 lbs apiece and will be cylindrical (not bell shaped) I will lay these so they will be just above grade.  A simpson bracket will be attached to this for the post.
