Good day all,
Did anyone used plastic clips to attach the wood siding? The company from where I am buying the wood siding has this clip that you use to attach the wood siding to the furring strips. The sales guy there is pushing me to use this instead of painted nails, but before doing that I wanted to know whether anyone has used this before and their opinion on using it.
This is the link to this product: http://www.maxiforet.com/html/maxi-clip_en.pdf
My siding would be a 1x10 cove style stained white pine, with 1x4 trims around windows/doors and corners.
Thanks,
Sharbin
Am I the only one who knows about such alternative to nails for fixing wood siding? no one had any experience with such product?
I am sure they work great, and if any one has heard any rumblings I am sure they would post so.....
There are a lot of people away right now - vacations and a long weekend working on their builds. Toss it back out in a few days - might be some one that missed it would like to pick it up. I doubt I would use such a product however.
Looking at the link, it says it can be used with any wood siding and yet it has a special groove it fits into ???. It is either using siding milled for this purpose or you are milling that groove.
I'd be more concerned about the plastic "off gassing" over the years making them brittle and eventually fail. Like Don stated, it requires a groove? Great! Now, how/who is making that groove?
You are correct about the groove thing. It is done by the guys who are selling me the wood and the clips.
I screwed my wood siding, dont even notice the screws unless you really are looking for them.
Found another site where they used the clips (however this is aluminum): http://rainscreenclip.com/pages/Installation.htm
