Title: Too Many Bears
Post by: MountainDon on July 01, 2010, 10:26:10 PM
NM has grown a bumper crop of black bears this year. So far this year Game & Fish has caught and moved or killed 31 nuisance bears. The average has been 10 for the entire year. We're paying special attention this year to things like putting the grill in the shed after use and locking the door. Kind of a nuisance but better than a bear dropping by and pulling it apart.

There is a bear sanctuary a few miles from my place.

We have not had any problems fortunately.

Is that the Vince Schute Sanctuary?  Last year, our kids took us there.  We had seen the sing on the way to fish Pelican Lake.

We saw 27 bears that evening.  Quite a sight, especially the one that was curled up under the steps when you get off the bus. :o
