Title: Universal Cottage video
Post by: John Raabe on April 14, 2010, 03:55:21 PM
I would be interested in what you think of this short video presentation of the Universal Cottage. Click the image below.

My son modeled the building in Sketchup and then narrated this series of clips and animations explaining the plans.

Very informative . . .    Quick and to the point.   I not sure about the gravely narrative though . . .    Made me kind of drowsy . . .

Excellent presentation.  Very easy to follow and understand.  And its a great layout on both floors.  Good idea giving the foundation options.  2 minor comments.
- maybe change the word "Dine" to be "Dining Area"
- there is a large window showing at the attic; perhaps give a cross section of the whole house showing what that space could be (only attic storage or a finished attic?)

I really enjoyed that presentation, great job!

BTW My wife is an amateur voice over artist if you need any help with narration.

Silly example, but the only one I could find on this computer :)

Thanks to all...

Shamrock76: Wow! I listened to your wife's Tweetle Beetle from Dr. Seuss' Fox In Socks. Not only does she have an immediately engaging voice sound, but this woman is a vocal gymnast of Olympic level.

Thanks John, I passed your compliment on to my wife and it made her day.  Our twins are now 2 years old so she's been itching to get back into it.  Her vocal coach says she's ready and definitely has "It" to make it in this business.

BTW this is her coach

I liked it, well done. Going to do more for other plans?

I liked it! Out of all of the house plans, that is my favorite one and 'prolly the one I'll end up building.

I would like to see walk through videos of finished homes made with country plans plans.

Nicely done video.  Like others before me, I can think of plenty of things I would like to see about the cottage made into a video.  Maybe a time lapse photography approach to framing up and finishing a Universal Cottage (done in SketchUp of course).  Of course it would be massively time consuming to make one, and probably of marginal value overall, as the people who build one probably don't need this type of video... but since we're just dreaming out loud.

Still, your son did some nice work...congrats.

I thought the video demonstration was good.  Consider removing the Ken Burns effect from the floorplan images... I want to see the whole plan at once, and having the slow shift is also a bit distracting.
