I wanted a field holster for the new ultra lite. I wanted something tough (Latigo), 15 degree forward cant, tension screw, alternate carry mounts, 100% trigger coverage, removable safety strap and an open bottom to keep dirt away from the muzzle.
I looked at a so called, custom, holster Called Simply rugged but the maker wouldn't add the extras I wanted, so I made one.
It's about 80% finished now and I should be able to use it tomorrow sometime.

It doesn't look like there's a lot of interest...but might as well bring it up to date anyway :)
I have the safety strap on now. It's heavy and strong. even an upside down tumble will keep the gun in place. The long tail is so I can get a good grip on it.

The toggle gives an almost unbreakable attachment and it can be removed easily. The strap will toggle all the way forward and stay out of the way if desired.

The tension screw is really suspenders with a belt but if I take the strap off, the gun still is secure.
I made a leather washer with an offset hole so the tighter I turn the screw, the tighter it presses on the trigger guard. A quick jerk gets it past the guard and the gun is free to come out.

Looks like a pretty nice job ! :)
I've been watching Peter. I should have said something but I was waiting to see if there was going to be a safety strap (I like the tail). Next time I should speak up rather than be silent. I should know better.
How'd you stich that up so nice?
Saddle stitching Shooter. Two needles and waxed thread and a punch.
Thanks Don! A couple more small things and I'm done.
Why do I have this image of Peter walking around with a gun sticking out of every pocket? ??? I have 1 gun...1 and that seems to be plenty for me.

You need different guns for different things Scott. For instance, I have to go to Richmond this Monday. Normally I'd wear my 1911 (City Gun) and I almost always have a 45/70 (Usually a Handi Rifle) in the truck....but the circus will be in town. An elephant or tiger could get loose. That calls for a 45/70 handgun (BFR) and the .730 DDR (Blammy shells).
Of course crime is still present in the city so I need to take a smaller semi and since the BFR is haevy, I should go for something light like a 9mm (Probably the 59).
It is spring and the Copperheads are out even in the BURBs so I need a quiet snake gun (Supermatic)...and there have been several cases of rabies so I need a flat shooting handgun that won't ricochet, (Contender with the 222 barrel)
That should see me through until I get back to the farm. [waiting]
Oh yeah...I almost forgot, those damned Democrats might attack. Better take the 599 with th CARR stock, laser and holosight too.
I was a Boy Scout! ;D
Different guns are just different tools for different purposes.
2 oz hammer, 7 oz, 10 oz, 16 oz, 24 oz, 32 oz, 5 lb....
Claw, ball peen, sledge, tinners, upolstery, brick, rubber mallet, brass head, lead shot dead blow, geologists, fish hammer, gavel....
