Title: Q: Insulating Rafter Ceilings w/ Ridgid Foam
Post by: DirtyLittleSecret on April 05, 2010, 12:49:42 AM
Finally getting back to the project and have a hopefully simple question:

When insulating rafter ceilings with ridgid foam (& ridge vent/vent spacers) how much space should there be at the bottom and top of the ridgid foam panels (nearest the vents)?

Hope I made this clear enough...

You want there to be enough space so that air can be drawn in the vents and to cool the roof, so 1" perhaps, not more.  That is, if I am following what you are asking.....

I believe 1" is quoted as sufficient in a few things I've read.

Thanks.  I was guessing 2-3", but since it would be the entire length of the bottom (24" o/c) even 1" is a bit!  Goin' nuts this weekend with foam...and the trackhoe.
