Cool, PEG.
Amazing that those brads are strong enough to hold up that roof. A bit of a modern miracle. :)
Yup, sort-a like you Glenn, a modern miracle rofl
[rofl2]
I'm just lazy -
Nice work, PEG -- did you make it in your shop?
I'm surprised at you, just putting big ol' nails right through the face of the board in plain view like that... ;) Beautiful stuff; sad that they're not real with the amount of work that's going into them!
No we ordered the parts from our prefinished trim provider, Husky Door. All the parts are custom, to out spec's.
Pretty much , they did make the arched pieces thicker than I ordered, 13/16th as opposed to 3/4". Thats why we had to use the little radius detail as the boards that return to the wall are 11/16" thick.
Ernie you can't see the finish nails fro the ground and you'll notice on the one beam we have black electrical tape which may become square headed lag bolts, black in color.
Handsome work as usual from PEG. ::)
"Bringing fine furniture to your ceiling" :D
Beautiful effect! I wonder how that would look with faux dowels left a little long? I've thought about doing fake timber framing in a house, building hollow box beams and using dowels where the joints would be. I figured if I joined the boards together with tight mitered corners, there would be no way the casual observer could tell they weren't real. I'd do real timber frame, but it's too slow and expensive. d*

That would be cool, but I agree w/ Mush that dowels would look more authentic.
You guys may be right about a peg look, Greene & Greene used a square peg look on thier stuff. I'll bring that up via email with the owner and on Monday we'll discuss that option!
Great suggestion! Thanks!
One thing about this forum is bouncing ideas off other folks, what is it John's tag line "None of us are as smart as all of us!" or something like that.
Pretty much done , not sure on the bolts / wood peg look or the three hanging fixtures.

Rope lighting provides the up lighting and a couple of track light "spots" are washing light on the fireplace stone.

Nice, but way above my pay grade.
Somebody's got a lot of money.
I hope it's PEG... :)
I know it's not me.
