Title: Keeping well pipe from freezing
Post by: wvwoodsman on March 07, 2010, 07:31:36 PM
Whats the best way to protect the water line coming from my well from freezing? Since there no walls to protect it from the cold. The pipe coming in will be 30" underground but when it comes up under the floor , it will be exposed . Is there a jacketed water line ? What did you guys do ?

Q: Is the cabin/home a full time occupancy with or without grid tie utility electricity?

Do you have an enclosed foundation?  There is insulation that slips on over the pipe but that only protects to a point then it can still freeze.

Some of Don's thoughts could help with that after we find out what you are dealing with.
