[cool]  Great pictures! Birds have to be the most graceful creatures on earth. I never tire of watching the bald eagles and the ravens dancing in the skies here in Alaska.

Someone on the Cannon site mentioned the one picture had a halo. I hadn't noticed it, but sure enough. I looked at the JPRG and it wasn't there so it had to be in the post processing.

Adobe doesn't support RAW out of the D7 in CR3. They're moving toward DNG instead.

I converted the CR2 file to DNG and processed in Photoshop. That one had the halo.

I went back and used DPP to convert the CR2 to a TIFF and processed in Photoshop.

No halo  ???

Nice size bear and good picture Peter.  You can tell they have their winter coat on.  Probably wouldn't recoginize the same bear in the summer months.

I have some pictures of that bear from last summer John. Looks like a patchwork quilt.

Nice pics.  Reminds me of my own bear story.

I worked the winter of 1985 in the oil industry of middle and northern Alberta (based out of Grande Prairie, 4 hrs west of Edmonton).

As a Schlumberger wireline engineer we usually set up our logging truck at the end of the catwalk, which is unfortunately often times very near the drilling sites garbage dump.  Bears love to rummage thru garbage, at least they did up there.

One evening, about six pm we were setting up to log a well.   I had to go outside for something.  As I opened the door, right there in front of me was a black bear, maybe 3 feet away.  He was in the process of coming up the ladder steps I was about to go down; for what purpose...only he knew.

I don't know who scared who the most, but as I quickly closed the door, he took off.  I just about had to change my drawers.

Needless to say, after that, I always looked out the door's window before opening the door.
