Well crap. My dishwasher went Tango Uniform on me yesterday.
Most likely is that I now have a sticking button on the user interface, and will need to purchase an entirely new membrane / controller which could be $200 or more. Might be time to just replace.
I can't afford a Bosch. Anybody have any suggestions? I need one 24" wide, prefer one with an integrated disposer. Doesn't need whistles and bells. Just a good, quiet washer. I'm surprised at how expensive many of them are. There is not a lot of HP needed, nor brains, as is the case with a lot of the new clothes washers. Maybe I should not cheap out on something that I use every day.
I was tempted to buy a subscription to Consumer Reports, but my experience with them in the past is that the stuff they have reviews on is a generation or two old, and I can't find the models that they feature.
I did a search for review sites yesterday, but didn't find anything useful. If you have a link, I'd appreciate it (or any clue for that matter).
So..... any suggestions?
Sounds like a good Mexican dishwasher would just about fit your needs, Frank.
Many are quiet with no bells and whistles, though I have seen them with the occasional trumpet, accordian and tuba.. as a plus they are comparatively cheap....
I have also seen them in 24 inch wide models, most are very nice looking and they can sometimes dispose of quite a bit of grub. [waiting]

Wow Bummer Frank! We just did that to the Bosch ourselves. Repair guy was smiling the whole time. He did charge us less for the board than I could have gotten the board for. But he did nick us for installing and a service call. I did ask him should we replace the unit or fix it. (About ten years old.) He said you just will not believe what these have climbed up to and these have better quality.
Others out there that might have Bosch dishwashers there is a recall for some of their models that have actually caught fire. There is a call center number - it is on their web site.

Glen, you are a nut. We really have to go get a beer sometime. As crazy as your CT stuff makes me, I still get a good chuckle out of you. I need no Tequila disposals, even if they was dishes.
Yes, this is the same dishwasher that I fixed the riser assembly on. I am glad I didn't buy a new pump housing for it... it appears that the electronics are shot ($159). I took off the switch panel, and the buttons are all functioning correctly.
The issue with this washer now, is that once it gets running, it goes into a weird mode where it only runs for 5 seconds, then stops for 30 seconds. The child lock light then blinks. It acts as though the child lock is on, but pressing the air dry only button should turn that off and it does not.
I'm going to look in the water intake for the pump and make sure that nothing is clogging it. Who knows. I'm trying not to buy a new unit but may be stuck.
Some of the Bosch washers are $1500!!!!!

That happened to me once and I shorted the safety switch. Worked for years after.

I pulled the panel off the thing to see if I could find a stuck button on the keypad. All keys checked out fine.... pressed all connectors on the motherboard, reinstalled the panel, and it now seems to be working just fine.
Dishwasher heal thyself?

In all honesty though, I did start shopping for a new dishwasher yesterday. I also came home, opened up my old one, looked at all that stainless steel, and thought...
"Hmmmmm... I bet I could make a meat smoker out of this :) "
Frank I would say with the smoker in mind that the dishwasher has a short life. ;D
Refrigerators are commonly used to make smokers - an old dead friend used a hotplate with wood chips in an old fridge to smoke his salmon in if I recall correctly. He just used the existing racks.
